Licentiate Teacher’s Diploma in Speech and Drama - LIESD - Part B – Theory Paper 1
A balanced understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of teaching speech and drama. It covers lesson planning, teaching strategies, speech correction, assessment methods, and the use of instructional materials. It also includes literature analysis, along with training in choral speaking, oral communication, character portrayal, and sight reading. Additionally, it introduces stagecraft elements such as lighting, makeup, costumes, and historical staging. Overall, it prepares candidates to become effective and confident speech and drama educators.
Licentiate Teacher’s Diploma in Speech and Drama - LIESD - Part B – Theory Paper 2
The syllabus develops understanding of drama, theatre history, prose, and verse through both analysis and performance. It covers dramatic techniques, historical contexts, prose interpretation, and poetic elements, helping candidates build strong analytical, interpretative, and performance skills.
Fellowship in Speech and Drama - FIESD - Part A – Practical Examination
This syllabus focuses on performance and presentation skills, requiring candidates to deliver memorized extracts from plays (before and after 1900), poetry, sonnets from different literary periods, and prose or narrative pieces. It also includes a speech on the development of speech and drama, along with discussions that assess the candidate’s understanding of authors, literary periods, and performed works. Overall, it evaluates memory, expression, interpretation, and knowledge of literature and performance.
Fellowship in Speech and Drama - FIESD - Part B – Thesis Examination
The thesis requires candidates to produce a 20,000-word research paper on a topic related to speech and drama, English literature, or teaching methods. It should demonstrate clear objectives, strong language skills, and critical, in-depth analysis based on reliable sources. The study may be analytical, historical, empirical, or performance-based, and must include proper referencing and academic standards throughout.
